The Restoration Project and Colorado State Forest Service have teamed up to lead two planning efforts related to wildfire within the San Luis Valley. These two efforts include the updating of Community Wildfire Protection Plans for Costilla and Conejos counties, as well as developing Wildfire Ready Action Plans for watersheds within these areas.
The planning process for Costilla began officially in July of 2026. Community meetings and stakeholder outreach will take place through 2026.
